The Starlight Gala, presented by General Mills, will be returning back to the John Q. Hammons Convention Center on March 7th, 2020 at 6pm! The Starlight Gala is an event that benefits the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter. The Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter has been around for 27 years and it provides basic care for children in need. Along with basic care, the shelter also provides counseling, education, medical and dental treatment, life skills training and trauma-informed care.  This year’s event has six different sponsorship packages to choose from as well as individual tickets available for purchase. The night will include drinks, food, and various speakers. The event will also feature a live performance by the award-winning country artist, Granger Smith. The rumble of the bikes is trickling in for the 19th year of Bikes, Blues & BBQ! The 4-day event kicks off tomorrow morning with a Harley-Davidson Demo Ride at Baum Stadium and wraps on Saturday evening with music performances on the Dickson Street Main Stage. Bikes, Blues & BBQ is known as the world’s largest charity motorcycle rally raising over $2 million for local charities throughout the NWA area. This family friendly event includes activities, music, merchandise, and a whole lot of BBQ! If you want to catch hundreds of motorcycles on display and purchase official BB&BBQ merchandise, head on down to Dickson St. starting tomorrow. The Main Stage will host performers throughout the week from a Freddie Mercury Tribute Band to Goose. Several food trucks will be assembled in the Walton Arts Center parking lot serving an array of fair food (funnel cakes, nacho fries, turkey legs, and more!). College football season has officially kicked off! The Razorbacks will play Colorado State Saturday, September 14th , at 3pm on their home turf. Tickets are still available so grab your friends and head out to the AT&T Fan Zone at the Gardens for free tailgating. There will be inflatable games for children and appearances by the Razorback Sprit Squads. And if you’d rather avoid the stadium crowd, big screen TVs around the Pavilion will feature the game. Leading up to the game, check out the nationally ranked Fayetteville Farmer’s Market on the downtown square Saturday morning and enjoy lunch at one of the several local surrounding restaurants (Tiny Tim’s Pizza, Cheers at the OPO, or Hugo’s). The Fayetteville Roots Festival is BACK! Kicking off on August 21st, this multi day festival provides fun for all. Musicians and bands from across the country will perform throughout the city to feature a medley of music. From folk and blues to jazz and country, performers will cater to all types of music. Mainstage performers include Mavis Staples, The Darrell Scott Bluegrass Band, Smokey & The Mirror, and Her Crooked Heart. Culinary artists will also be featured amongst the musical talent. The Roots Festival supports local farmers, chefs, and restaurants who focus on locally grown produce from the Ozarks. Over 50 chefs are featured in the culinary lineup including award winning chef Graham Elliot, and MasterChef Junior Champion, Logan Guleff. On Saturday, August 24th, Northwest Arkansas will be hosting its first ever SOAR NWA Hot Air Balloon Event. Activities will be happening all day, from sun up until sun down. The event will kick off at Drake Field in Fayetteville at 7am with tethered balloon rides and balloons in flight. A pancake breakfast will take place from 7am-10am provided by the Arkansas Air & Military Museum. Other activities throughout the day include a beer garden, live music, kids play area, skydiving and helicopter rides. The Ladies Professional Golf Association tournament will return for its 13th year here in Northwest Arkansas on June 24th-30th. The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G will take place at the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, AR. Pinnacle Car Services will be operating several shuttle buses to transport spectators to and from the event. The buses will run from the parking lots to the main tournament entrance from: 7:45AM-7:00PM Tuesday, June 25th through Thursday, June 27th 6:30AM-7:30PM Friday, June 28th through Sunday, June 30th. The tournament benefits several local charities in the area including NWA Food Bank, NWA Children’s Shelter, Mercy Hospital, and more! In the past, Pinnacle has transported thousands of Walmart employees and shareholders from around the world throughout the weeklong event. The 2019 Walmart Shareholders Meeting will take place around Northwest Arkansas with events held on June 5th and June 7th. The Formal Business and Shareholder’s Meeting will kick off at 10am on Wednesday, June 5th at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers. This meeting focuses on shareholders voting on business and proxy proposals. Friday, June 7th, will be the day of entertainment! The Celebration for Associates and Shareholders will be held at 8am at the University of Arkansas’ Bud Walton Arena. Presentations from Walmart’s executive team will take place throughout the day followed by entertainment to highlight the accomplishments of Walmart associates throughout the past year. This meeting serves as a celebration to show appreciation for Walmart shareholders and associates. Past entertainers have included Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Aerosmith, and more!
